Why this one matters

This is deliberately the least dramatic number on this page. The unit uses little heat: 10,507 kWh a year before installation, 1.9 tonnes of carbon, £735 of gas. There is no round-the-clock hot water demand to amplify the effect, and heating runs only during office hours.

The system was fitted to the unit's 30kW combi boiler in May 2024, in under an hour, with no downtime. A year later the meter showed a 16% reduction in kWh per degree day: consumption down from 10,507 kWh to 9,322 kWh, and 400kg of carbon removed.

For a landlord weighing the system across a whole portfolio, that is the useful result: if it measurably works on a small, lightly-used unit, the case for larger, harder-working buildings makes itself. Wearebauer are exploring the system across their wider estate.

How this was measured: a full year of post-install consumption compared against the pre-install year from the unit's own meter, adjusted for degree days (2,200.1 against 2,320.7).

The V1 system is the OH4 Energy Saving System, so client quotes and the full case-study documents refer to it as OH4.
